An update on the Aeroplan program
As you may have seen or heard, Aimia, the parent company that owns and operates Aeroplan, has reached a definitive agreement to sell its Aeroplan loyalty business to Air Canada, which follows the agreement in principle we had previously announced in August. This announcement puts the transaction one step closer to completion, with the next steps being shareholder and regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to close in January of 2019.

You can continue to earn and redeem miles with confidence. The transaction will provide the ability for a smooth transition of Aeroplan members’ miles to Air Canada’s new loyalty program launching in 2020.

Below please find some of the most frequently asked questions relating to the Aeroplan transaction.

If the deal is successfully concluded, all of your Aeroplan Miles will be transferable into the new Air Canada loyalty program in 2020.
