MILES EXPIRY

Miles expiry:

we’re here to help

Your miles expire if you haven't earned, redeemed, donated or transferred any miles in 12 consecutive months. But don't worry, there are a few things you can do to help prevent your miles from expiring or get them back. Let us show you how.

If your miles are expiring soon, take one of these steps:

Earn Miles

  • Fill up at an Esso station and show or swipe your Aeroplan card.
  • Pay with your Aeroplan-affiliated Financial Card.
  • Shop at any Aeroplan partner and show or swipe your Aeroplan card.
  • Enter your Aeroplan number and shop at any of our 120+ online partners via the Aeroplan eStore.

Use Your Miles

Did you know? You can prevent your miles from ever expiring as long as you are a TD Aeroplan Visa or CIBC Aeroplan Visa primary cardholder.

How do you know when your miles will expire?

3 months before your miles expire, you will be notified by email, mail, or banners on aeroplan.com. You can also check when your miles will expire at any time by following these 3 simple steps:

1
Log in to your account on aeroplan.com.
2
Under Your Aeroplan, select Overview.
3
Scroll down to Account Expiry to see your mileage expiry date.
If your miles have expired, here are your options:

Reinstate expired miles

  • Missing miles for past purchases made at our travel partners before your expiry date can be claimed, even if you forgot to provide your Aeroplan number. If successful, your expired miles will be reinstated.
  • You can claim missing Aeroplan Miles for:
    • a hotel stay or a car rental within the last 6 months;
    • a flight booking within 11 months of the flight departure date. Some exceptions may apply.

Buy them back

  • You may buy back expired miles at a cost of 1¢ per mile, a $30 administration fee, and applicable taxes.
  • You may choose to buy back some or all of your expired miles, at any time.
  • Call the Aeroplan Contact Centre at 1-800-361-5373 to buy back expired miles.
